Reviews - The Irish Independent:

We had spotted Chameleon, an Indonesian restaurant, as a promising night out a good while back, but we twice found it impossible to get a table at short notice. Never to be beaten by such problems, I rang at a quarter to one in the morning and got a booking for the following night. Everything comes to he who persists. For one as tall as me, The Chameleon is daunting from the outside. It is one of the few remaining buildings in Temple Bar that has not been made over, and even the windows seem low, close to the pavement, giving it a Dickensian aspect. A knock on the door brings forth a warm & friendly welcome into a small dining room with a low ceiling & perhaps half a dozen tables, one of which has a low, bench for those who prefer to eat in an Indonesian posture. My knees not being what they once were & maeve's legs being longer than i care to discuss, the waitress wisely offered us a generously sized table for two at the window. A hugh basket of real prawn crackers - by which i mean they tasted of something - was in the centre of the table, to which were added two very pleasant chilli - based dips, the menu & a jug of water.
